Play, Read, and Grow – Summer Fun on the Farm at Tuttles

Tuttle Orchards is offering a fun opportunity for kids to explore some fun on the farm and make new friends! Each week we will have a fun and exciting new theme. This experience is approximately a half hour.  It includes playtime in Tractor Town.  Tractor Town will be open from 9am to 12pm. You are welcome to play before or after class within these times.  This activity is designed for children 3-8 years old, but other siblings may attend.  All children between the ages of 2 – 13 years old MUST purchase a ticket to attend the class.

  • Interactive activity or game
  • Fun craft
  • Includes admission to Tractor Town (Open 9am to 12pm)

Weekly Themes:

  • May 16 – CANCELLED DUE TO RAIN! Old MacDonald had a farm!  E-I-E-I-O! Can you match the animal tracks to each animal? Have fun galloping, bouncing, and buzzing during the animal movement game! Then, make your own animal tracks to take home!
  • May 23 – Ready for an outdoor adventure?  Let’s play with nature.  Make a fun nature wands.  Then, head out on a nature scavenger hunt on the farm.
  • June 6 and 8 – Spread your WINGS and FLY like a butterfly! Join us for a fun pollination activity to see how bees and butterflies pollinate the flowers around us!  Use watercolors to paint a beautiful butterfly. (Be sure to wear play clothes that can get dirty.)
  • June 13 and 15 –Explore the world of wind.  Learn about our amazing wind machines on the farm and how they help the apple trees!  Build a windsock and have some parachute fun (wind permitting)!  
  • June 20 and 22 – Farm to table fun.  Guess what is hiding under our Harvest Blanket? Play a fun learning game about the parts of the plant. Then, have fun creating a dancing tomato!
  • June 27 and 29 – It’s hot!  Let’s have some summer fun learning and playing with water!  Experiment with a game of “Will it sink or float?”  Use your creativity and dive into watercolors! (Be sure to wear play cloths that can get dirty and/or wet!)
  • July 11 and 13 – Christmas in July on the Farm! Enjoy a Christmas story, make nature ornaments, and join us for fun with pretend snowballs!
  • July 18 and 20 – Let’s get POPPING! Do you know the difference between sweet corn, Indian corn, field corn and popcorn?  Play our corny game on how corn is used! Then, make a craft with popcorn!
  • July 25 and 27 – Blueberries and Bubbles!  Let’s have all sorts of fun with blueberries and bubbles! Then, use your creativity and imagination to paint with foam bubbles!

Cost:

Child ages 2 to 13 – Cost is $12.00/each. Includes the story time or lesson, the craft, and playtime in Tractor Town. This class is geared towards 3–8-year-olds.  Siblings are welcome to join but must purchase a ticket as well if they are between 2-13 years old and plan to attend.

Kids 1 & under – Free as long as they do not want to participate in any activities and are OK with sitting on mom’s lap.  Kids who want to participate in the class should purchase a child ticket. Parents can choose based on the needs of their child.

Please be aware that the craft may contain small parts which are not suitable for young children under 3 years old and could be a choking hazard. Close adult supervision is required for any children under 3 years of age that are participating in this activity.

Spectators (14 and Older) – There is no cost for spectators 14 and older to watch class if they have a child participating in the class.

Each child MUST always have a guardian with them during the class and while at Tractor Town.

Refunds:

These tickets non-refundable. If you are unable to attend due to COVID, then please contact Christie at 317-326-2278 and press 5 or christie@tuttleorchards.com to transfer your tickets to another date.

Rain or inclement weather:

If rain or bad weather is expected, then this event will be cancelled and Tractor Town will be closed.  In the event of a cancellation due to rain or inclement weather, you will receive a text message the morning of the event.  Please be aware that we will not make this determination until the morning, as Indiana weather often changes by morning from the evening forecast.  In the event of a cancellation, you will receive a refund for your tickets.  

What to wear:

Please be sure to dress accordingly for the weather and activity.  During the spring, it can be cool at times on the farm, so we strongly encourage that you pack an extra jacket or sweater as we will be outside in a tent during the classes.  Also, please be sure your child wear’s play clothes that can get dirty or wet, as some classes involve painting and water activities.   

Location:

Please park in the parking lot on the west side of the road.  The Summer Fun on the Farm classes will be held in an outdoor tent near Tractor Town.  Please look for the signs on the west side of the street.  Tractor Town will be open from 9am to 12pm during these classes, so you are welcome to come early to play before class.   

Bathrooms:

We do not have bathrooms available near Tractor Town during the Spring and Summer.  Bathrooms are located at the far end of the Café and Sweet Shop building on the east side of the street.  We do have a handicap accessible bathroom in that location, which also has a baby changing counter for your convenience.

Additional class times may be added, so please be sure to check back if the class you want is full.

Classes that do not meet the minimum requirements of 10 registered participants may be cancelled 4 days prior to the class.
